Barcodes and item number
First, please fill in the barcode 🙏
I know it's optional, but it's very accurate for detecting duplicates,
and with so many added pieces, it makes life much easier 🙃
Starting today, we're undergoing a major reorganization – all to ensure our database is robust, legible, and duplicate-free.
Why was the change necessary?
Some brands release the same image under different barcode
for example, after a change in type or series or for other reasons.
Until now, everything went into one field or description, which led to chaos and difficulty in verification.
What does it work now?
The main (first) barcode
‼️ is the most important code - the key to avoiding duplicates.
That's why it's so important to add it 😜
- it can't be repeated.
- this code determines whether a given pattern already exists in the database.
- if it's already in the system, the puzzle is already added.
The second (additional) barcode
- it can be repeated.
- used when the same pattern has different barcodes (different editions, etc.)
- skip the first code and add it as the second one.
if there's a different pattern under the same code.
(this happens especially with older puzzles.)
Item number
Some companies don't have a standard barcode, but they have their own unique numbers.
I previously thought it was just a fragment of the barcode - that's often the case, but... not always.
That's why I created a separate section here:
the code can be repeated, so be careful with duplicates.
🔎 Easier searching!
I've also added a search function for all these codes, so before adding a new pattern,
you can easily check if the code is already in the database 🤓
